I Spy: Anthropologie

Today has been nothing but wins for me. Tonight, the mister and I are meeting up with some friends to eat Korean BBQ and my stomach is very excited. But, before we do that, we're going to see Shutter Island to kill some time. Unlike my peers in high school, I never quite understood Leonardo DiCaprio's appeal but he's starting to grow on me.

My arsenal of Anthro sightings is due for a purge so the time is ripe for a I Spy: Anthropologie post. I'm loving colors in these images:

Tomorrow I'll have my favorites from the week. Happy Friday!

Wedding Accessories: Ann Taylor

Ann Taylor? Yup, that store. I admit to owning some pieces because once upon a time, as a recent college graduate, I assumed that's where everyone bought their work attire. Times have a changed. In an effort to revive their brand (Katinka, no?), Ann Taylor is offering some fresh frocks to the plate. To my surprise, some of their accessories would work in a wedding. Who knew?

Clean and streamlined.

I like the addition of ribbon. That could be a DIY project.

Where were these when I was planning? Finding a decent pair of drop pearl earrings was tedious.

An unusual necklace with a subtle and pretty color for the wedding gown.

Dainty but still adds some pop.

I still wonder why I didn't just wear a pair of flats under my own dress from the get-go.

Favorites From the Week

So, I dropped the ball last week perhaps due to the excitement of the weekend. It's time to make up for it.

An artist died... Then I read this great piece.

Like a painting.

Love the details of this jacket.

Three things: First - Rawr! Second - No, I'm not a Smallville fan - just a fan of Tom Welling. Third - I love this entire shoot.

P.S. I want these frames

Have a lovely weekend!

Goals In Motion

My little sneak peek from Sunday? Just part of my gift from Mr. Jessebel for our former anniversary. He gave me 2 options: receive a floral arrangement or visit to the flower district to pick whatever items I want to make my own. I took the latter!

Random note: I visit the flower district at least once a month however, this was my first time visiting during the flurry of V-day. Since I'm a newbie, I figured that maybe the mart would be a little busier than normal. Nope, it was popping with lots of visitors. Luckily, I know my way around and had my eyes on some less popular items. My bounty of flowers included: ranunculus, ornithogalum dubium (or sun stars), freesia, wax flower, and some elusive Fair Bianca and Sweet Juliet garden roses. Considering the situation and timing, I pounced on the roses.

I finally played around with the DSLR only to discover some useful settings after taking pictures of the final products. Of the 3 I made, this arrangement was the man's favorite:

I'm really happy with the final product and for taking some pictures of it. Yay for goals!

Six years ago I entered a relationship with a guy I had only known for 3 days.

A proud SoCal native, he bemoaned my NorCal roots for creating the most abhorrent word ever - hella (and it's slightly prudish counterpart hecka). Not only was I guilty of using both but, to add insult to injury, I was a fan of the Queens Kings. Well, I did come from Sacramento.

Oh, I haven't forgotten.

Me: Hmm... Him: You lost. Get over it.

With my proneness to being mushy in private, blatant displays of colorful behavior, my unabashed girlishness, and the over usage of the word "quaint" he learned to deal with my idiosyncrasies and eventually liked them. I, on the other hand, never fought his love of video games (in fact, I enable it), his affection for jazz, penchant for beans, his pride in being a band nerd, or his love for the Lakers (well that took some time).

For us, this day isn't just about love, it's also about companionship. While it's no longer our main anniversary, this day will always be a little more special and lucky us, not so hard to forget.

My little special arrangement.
More about this picture later.

More Dahlias

This beauty from Caroline Tran just made it's way on my Reader. The bouquet, the vibrant colors in the minimal and slightly stark setting, the dahlias are just what I needed... There's a storm coming!

See the rest here!

Spring in August | A Real Wedding

I love spring weddings... So soft, romantic, and pretty mostly due to all the gorgeous blooms available. Their presence on wedding blogs are abundant which lends to that impressionable bride who falls in love with the look and wants to recreate it for their own wedding...in September. Uh-OH! Floral options available in the Spring won't necessarily be around later in the year. Really, you have to work with what's available and sustainable because flowers are like people... many don't like the heat. Here's a wedding captured by Lane Dittoe and Amy Squires that was held in August with a very spring time look and feel to it.

Peonies are the diva of a spring wedding but only come out when they feel like it or else it will cost you a pretty penny. So a nice alternative are dahlias during those late summer/ early fall months.

I have a slight fascination with brides who rock birdcages...

and boleros. Why didn't I rock one?

You know what see more.

Favorites From the Week

I love the rain, really I do. Nothing is better than curling up with a book, laptop or even better, a Lifetime Movie Greatest Hits marathon (um, I am a fan of cheese and spacing out) with popcorn, tea, or any random hot food. And the day after? Beautiful, especially here in SoCal because everything is so crisp, clean and CLEAR! You realize why so many people live here (then see on Monday the results of such a large population). But, I am so ready for spring. Last week at the Flower District, there were lots of pretty blooming branches and I thought I want to bring spring home but alas, where would I put it?

Leave it to Saipua to know better.

What can I say? It's my dream location to live. I guess the honeymoon was close enough.

If I were so bold.

Pretty sweet.

Sweet peas!

The color... The bow clutch... The ruffles... Are you kidding?

I am so ready for the Super Bowl. Have a good weekend!
